February 2026

We're still here, fully stocked and ready. Had a website issue that meant we lost visibility for a

couple of weeks.

Apologies if you were trying to get in contact,

we couldn't resolve it as quickly as we hoped. All back now.

As we enter 2026 it marks our 15th year of trading! A welcome to all our website visitors new and old.

We've got plenty of stock and look forward to any enquiries.

So why do we think our logs are good value?

1. We sell in cubic metre bags (that's 1M x 1M x 1Metre = 1 cubic metre), most of the competition locally don't. There's no such thing as a standard dumpy bag, a builders bag or a ton bag when it comes to logs. They should be sold by volume. So ask the question if your considering others..how big is your bag...they should be able to give you a measurement? For your interest a 75cm x 75cm x 75cm bag which is quite common locally holds LESS THAN HALF of what our log bags hold..(0.75x0.75x0.75 = 0.42 Cubic metre).

2. All our timber is from Northumberland, all processed/ kiln dried on our site and delivered to your door. NO IMPORTED LOGS. Believe me there's nothing 'green' about logs that are shipped half way around the world to be burnt in your homes in the Tynedale area.

3. We have a real eye on 'sustainability' another overused word. Planned felling programmes and storm damage are our main sources of timber. The woodland we look after has also a replanting programme. On the subject of sustainability, don't forget that hardwood is a more finite resource than softwood. Softwood is a crop that grows excellently in Northumberland and fast too. It gives off the same heat as hardwood but you have to replenish your stove slightly more often.

4. We like to think our service levels are high and we look after our customers as they look after us.

All prices include delivery.

Look forward to hearing from you.

The New Clean Air Act

As you may have heard the new Clean Air Act has come into place. This means there are now controls on solid fuels that heat the home, of which logs are included.

DEFRA are enforcing the new legislation and they state:-

"To help improve the air we breathe and ensure householders choose cleaner fuels, sales of traditional house coal and wet wood (the two most polluting fuels) are being phased out in all of England from 1 May 2021.  Wood sold in volumes of less than 2m³ must be certified as 'Ready to Burn'. This confirms it has a moisture content of 20% or less.  Manufactured solid fuels must also be certified as 'Ready to Burn' to confirm they meet sulphur and smoke emission limits.  Traditional house coal (bituminous coal) can no longer be sold, apart from coal supplied loose direct to customers by approved coal merchants."

This is a big and costly challenge for us.  The only practical way that we can turn over our stock quick enough and hit the sub 20% moisture target is to force dry or kiln dry the logs.

The benefits are that the logs produced are (when burnt efficiently) as clean as you can get. They give off more heat energy so you can reduce the amount you burn to get the same heat.

The drawbacks are that an extra drying process adds cost to the production of the logs.
